The South Florida Chamber Ensemble is HIRING!

The SFCE is a non-profit organization dedicated to using the arts to promote diversity and inclusion.  We give around 375 performances a year, including our classical concert series, children’s concert series, educational initiatives, and partnerships with other organizations to use the arts for social justice and environmental issues.  We are looking for innovative musicians who are interested in exploring music outside of the classical idiom, who want to experiment in other art forms, and who are looking to use the arts as a vehicle for social change. The instrumentation is not as important as the musician and that person’s desire to make positive change in this world through the arts.  We want to hire “artists” who will be ambassadors for our brand, who will bring new innovative ideas to our organization, people who will step outside their comfort zone and help us grow in our next 10 years.   We did not shut down during the pandemic and our musicians did not lose any work during the past year and a half.  We returned to live programming in October 2020 with a joint concert with the Innocence Project of Florida about how art helped four wrongfully imprisoned inmates survive decades in prison. We are not your garden variety chamber ensemble.

Send us your resume/bio, a recording of your work, and a brief statement about why you want to join our team.    Please check out our website www.sfcemusic.com our social media: @sfcemusic, Facebook.com/southfloridachamberensemble, and our YouTube page @sfcemusic before you apply to really understand what we do.  Feel free to contact us at sfcemusic@gmail.com with any questions.

Richard Padrón is an accomplished composer and guitarist known for his versatility, virtuosity and ability to blend in with almost any ensemble across a wide variety of genres. He has strong Cuban roots that color his compositions while still retaining his own identity as a composer. His music has been described as deceptively simple and easy on the ear, yet pulling you in with its complex harmonies. He began playing guitar at age 12 and studied privately until age 20. Within this time he also picked up the clarinet and electric bass as well as marching band snare drum. His musical career took a turn for the better after being accepted to the prestigious conservatory New World School of the Arts in Miami, at age 16. Here he was able to really focus on just playing guitar and composition. Before graduating from High School, Richard was already a part of the professional music scene in Miami working with players twice his age.  In the words of the great Paquito D’Rivera, “Richard Padrón, on electric and acoustic guitars, writes music in a very particular way, using unusual melodic, rhythmic and harmonic approaches. His guitar playing is compelling, powerful and passionate.” As a composer, Richard has a growing reputation as the go-to man for film scoring within the Indie scene – having scored 5 independent short films in the past few years. His ability to compellingly capture a story through music crosses all genres but maintains his unique essence. He records and mixes all of his music in his home project studio. Currently he is working on his second record as a leader, due sometime in 2020. Richard was born in Cuba, raised in Miami, and currently works and resides in Miami after living in New York City for over 20 years. Richard joined the South Florida Chamber Ensemble as a core member in September of 2022.
